I remember this case. It happened in Texas when I was a teenager in the late 90s in NYC. It was a HUGE deal in the punk scene at the time. This was before the internet was really a big thing, and yet everyone knew about this. Kids wore patches with the kid’s picture on it. Truly some fucked up bullshit.
When I try to explain to friends today how scary it used to be, and how different it used to be to be a “punk” compared to nowadays, I think of things like this. It’s always dangerous to be different, but as time goes by and attitudes change, I think it gets a little easier.
